Dr. Ian W. McKee
Dr. McKee was born in England but grew up on a farm in Central Alberta. He completed his Bachelor of Science and Dental Degree as a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll at the University of Alberta. During four years of general dental practice in the interior of British Columbia, Dr. McKee was involved in private practice, hospital dentistry, as well as teaching at the local dental assisting college.
In 1998, Dr. McKee returned to the University of Alberta to complete the 28-month Postgraduate Orthodontic Program. During the program, he was awarded the Province of Alberta Graduate Scholarship for clinical, academic and research excellence and has several publications in international orthodontic journals.
On a personal note, Dr. McKee is married with two children. He and his wife, Robin (a dental hygienist), together enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, but especially skiing, hiking, water sports and gardening. Their two young children, Chloe and Max, also keep them rather busy!
Dr. Shawn J. Russett
Dr. Russett was born and raised in a small town in Saskatchewan in the heart of “Oil Country.” He completed his Bachelor of Science and Dental Degree as a member of the Dean’s Honor Roll at the University of Alberta. Dr. Russett was awarded with several accolades including the prestigious Dr. G.H. Gibb Memorial Scholarship and The Harry Ernest Bulyea Prize for Academic Excellence. As an active member in the Edmonton dental community, Dr. Russett maintained a private practice, lectured at the University of Alberta to the dental hygiene students and was a clinical instructor to the dentistry students.
In 2003, Dr. Russett returned to the University of Alberta to complete the 36- month Postgraduate Orthodontic Program. The clinically based program allowed him to pursue research interests in the area of facial asymmetries and imaging techniques to which he has several publications pending. In addition to his orthodontic private practice, Dr. Russett, along with Dr. McKee, maintains his commitment to teaching as an orthodontic clinical instructor at the University of Alberta, training undergraduate dental students. Dr. Russett is currently a mentor and committee member for ongoing research through the Graduate Orthodontic Program.
On a personal note, Dr. Russett is married with two sons, Oliver and Marshal. He and his wife, Lori (a dentist), along with Oliver and Marshal, enjoy a variety of outdoor activities such as cycling, camping and watersports.
